Shirley Ann Banta-Clegg, 65, Lebanon, died Friday, March 22.
Shirley was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was a paralegal in her early career and later served as the Executive Assistant to the Secretary of State of the United States, James Baker, III during the George H. Bush Administration. Shirley is the daughter of the late, Newell Cordell and Mary Lou Thornburg Banta.
She is survived by: son, Michael (Kristi Shearon) Schmitz of Lebanon; sisters, Patty Willoughby of Mt. Juliet, Jeanette Davis of Commerce, Ga. and Carolyn Rose of Memphis; several nieces and nephews; dog, Daisy.
