BOMBICK, Daniel Dane died on the afternoon of April 15, 2013 at Kettering Memorial Hospital, Kettering, OH after a long fight with amyloidosis. Daniel was born on June 2, 1957 in Greenville, South Carolina to Donald and Ruth Ann Bombick. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Bombick. Dan is survived by his mother Ruth Ann Bombick (nee Katchmar); his twin brother Dave Bombick and Dave's wife, Betsy; his daughter Celeste Rauch Bombick; and many other friends and family members. Since his father was in the US Air Force, Dan lived in many different places growing up including Ankara, Turkey for two years. Dan was always interested in science and developed a love for chemistry in elementary school. Dan graduated from Annandale High School, Annandale, VA. He attended Bloomsburg State University, Bloomsburg, PA for two years and completed his B.S. in chemistry at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio in 1979. He received an M.S. in chemistry from Wright State University in 1981. Dan received a Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan in 1986 and, his doctoral work was in the area of mass spectrometry. He joined the chemistry faculty at Wright State University in 1986, became an associate professor of chemistry in 1993, and served in the chemistry department for over 25 years. He had a love for teaching and most recently added teaching chemistry to education majors along with his other courses. Dan had many interests and hobbies. He collected stamps, angels, old books and manuscripts, and natural gems and minerals. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, crocheting, bead work, flower arranging, and cooking. He enjoyed animals and loved his pet dog, Angel.
