FRED CONAWAY
1948-2009

FREDERICK M. CONAWAY, 60, DIED ON MONDAY 1/5/09 AT CHANDLER HALL. HE WAS A 35 YEAR RESIDENT OF PENNDEL. FRED WAS BORN IN PHILADELPHIA'S GERMANTOWN SECTION. RAISED IN OAKFORD HE ATTENDED ASSUMPTION BVM SCHOOL AND GRADUATED FROM BISHOP EGAN IN 1966. HE SERVED IN THE ARMY FROM JUNE 1970 UNTIL DECEMBER 1971. FRED WAS A SALESMAN FOR SEARS FOR 33 YEARS. HE WORKED AT NESHAMINY, TRENTON, QUAKERBRIDGE, AND OXFORD VALLEY STORES. FRED NOT ONLY SOLD APPLIANCES AND TV'S BUT WOULD ALSO MAKE "HOUSE CALLS" TO CUSTOMERS ON HIS OWN TIME TO HELP INSTALL OR TEACH THEM HOW TO USE THEIR NEW APPLIANCES OR TV. IN JULY 2006, HE FINALLY GOT HIS RETIREMENT JOB AS A MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR FOR OUR LADY OF GRACE SCHOOL IN PENNDEL. HE TRULY LOVED ALL THE STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND STAFF THERE AS WELL AS THE RECTORY STAFF.

HE WAS HAPPILY MARRIED FOR 35 YEARS (12/1/08) TO HIS WIFE CHRISTINE (HOGAN). TOGETHER THEY RAISED THREE OUTSTANDING SONS, PATRICK (GAIL), OD NEWTOWN, KEVIN (KATE), OF LANGHORNE, AND RYAN. HE LOVED AND ADORED HIS SIX GRANDCHILDREN: ERIN, KEVIN, MOLLY, SIOBHAN, CLARE, AND ASHER. THEY WERE THE LIGHT OF HIS LIFE THESE LAST 4 YEARS..

HE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS, CHARLES AND MARIE. HE IS SURVIVED BY THREE BROTHERS: JOE (JACKIE), GERRY (CAROLE), AND JIMMY (MARIAN). HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY MANY BROTHERS-IN-LAW, SISTERS-IN-LAW, NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND HIS AUNT PEG. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING FATHER-IN-LAW FR. JOSEPH HOGAN TO WHOM HE WAS A TRUE SON.

HE LOVED THE TEACHERS, STUDENTS, PARENTS, STAFF AT OLG AND HIS WONDERFUL NEIGHBORS AND COUNTLESS DEAR FRIENDS. OUR FRED WAS A ONE IN A MILLION GUY WHOSE LOVE, HELP, AND PRESENCE WILL BE SORELY MISSED. HE ESPECIALLY LOVED HIS PASTOR, FR. WILLIAM DOONER, WHO WAS SUCH A BLESSING DURING THE LAST MONTHS AND ALL THE PRIESTS OF OLG.

THE VIEWING WILL BE HELD FROM 7-9PM ON THURSDAY 1/8/09 AT OUR LADY OF GRACE CHURCH, PENNDEL AND AGAIN FROM 10-11 ON FRIDAY 1/9/09 BEFORE THE FUNERAL MASS AT 11AM. BURIAL WILL BE AT RESURRECTION CEMETERY IN BENSALEM.

THE FAMILY EXTENDS SINCERE THANKS TO ALL THE DOCTORS AND NURSES AT ST. MARY HOSPITAL, HOSPITAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PA, AND CHANDLER HALL HOSPICE.
