OBITUARY:
Cathleen M. “Kaye” (Connelly) McIntosh, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away quietly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday, January 29th. The beloved wife of Norman F. “Norm” McIntosh Sr., she was seventy-one years of age. Kaye, as she was affectionately known, was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Trainor) Connelly. Kaye received her education through St. Charles Elementary and High School, graduating in 1952. Two years later on September 4th, she married her husband Norman to whom she was devoted for fifty-one years. Their home on the North side of Woburn was the center of their family life. Kaye dedicated herself to her husband and their four children and their daily activities. She shared with her children her love for life and music and taught them how to cook at an early age. As a family they enjoyed camping trips, vacationing at Sawyer Lake in NH, and visiting relatives in Buffalo, NY every summer. Kaye was very active in her community and beyond. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, at both the State and Local level and served as the Past Grand Regent as her mother had before her. Together they traveled to attend the numerous conventions. Kaye was also active in Pop Warner, in its early years, the Woburn Senior Singers and was a volunteer at the Woburn Senior Center right up until the time of her death. She was on the Board of Directors for the Immaculate Conception Drum and Bugle Corps and was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Parish. In the early 70’s Kaye began a career working in the Woburn Public Schools Food Service. She started at the High School, then transferred to the Shamrock Elementary and finally to the Kennedy Middle School where she managed the food service for fifteen years. After retiring in 1997, Kaye traveled extensively with her family and friends. She and her husband visited Daytona for a number of years with their dear friends, the Murphys. Kaye also traveled to Italy, Florida, Las Vegas, Utah and New York City, always accompanied by her sister Marilyn. Throughout her life Kaye enjoyed attending plays and frequented the North Shore Music Theatre and was a longtime season ticket holder at the Quanapowit Theatre in Reading. In later years, the pride and joy of Kaye’s life was her seven grandchildren. She attended all of their activities and many shopping excursions over the years. Christmas was a very special season for the McIntosh family as they gathered together each year to celebrate.
This past December a Blood Drive was organized for Kaye at the Woburn Senior Center and despite her failing health, she personally thanked the 112 participants present that day. Kaye leaves behind a legacy of love, caring and volunteerism for all those she cherished, her family, friends and her community.
