Peggy Amatore, 65, almost 66, passed unexpectedly at her Matunuck home on Sunday, March 6, 2016 after a battle with Amyloidosis.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Lenny and Helen (Masterson) Amatore.

She was the love of Mike McKenna’s life, who was lucky enough to be the first among equals of the many people that she loved. They lived together for 7 years, got “the itch”, got married and still remained best friends and partners for the past 33 years. In fulfillment of Peggy and Mike’s dream, they lived in Matunuck for the last 18 years.

She was employed for 35 years by the Episcopal Diocese of RI where she served for many years as the Executive Director of Episcopal Charities RI. Peggy was a very loving and generous person, blessed to have her life and career intertwined.

Peg’s all-time favorite pastime was surrounding herself with family and friends. She loved “living large” and could be found on many weekends “getting her wiggle on” with her husband at her favorite gathering places. Peg and Mike also loved walking the beach and biking the beautiful country roads around their Matunuck home.

Peggy was a proud “member” of the Narragansett Salt Water Fishermen’s Club and a member of the Matunuck Surfing Association.

Besides her husband, she was the loving sister to Donnie, Judy, Lenny and Joe Amatore. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends.
