Whiting, Lynn Stewart, son of Lyle and Lurline Whiting, was born in Great Falls, MT, on June 28, 1939. He passed away at the age of 77 on Wednesday, April 19, at his home after a long illness. He was survived by his wife, Nellie; his two daughters, Kerri Whiting and Lori Thomas; and three granddaughters, Sutton Mae, Graycen Lynn, and Norah Pearl.

Lynn was a third generation horseman and thoroughbred trainer following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Lloyd Whiting, a trainer, and his father, Lyle, a jockey and trainer. Lynn had a successful career in training racehorses spanning 50 years. He is best known for winning the Kentucky Derby in 1992 (25th anniversary) with Lil E Tee, owned by Cal Partee and ridden by jockey, Pat Day. He was well known and well liked at Churchill Downs, KY and Oaklawn Park, AR. He will be sorely missed among the racing community.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made on Lynn's behalf to: Mayo Clinic Amyloidosis Research, C/O Dr. Gertz, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, Minnesota 55905. -
