GERALD M. "JERRY" HULKE
1938 - 2014

Gerald "Jerry" M. Hulke, 76, of South Elgin passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at JourneyCare in Barrington, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Amyloidosis. He was born on May 1, 1938 in Elgin the son of Irvin H. & Elvira A. (Langhorst) Hulke. Jerry graduated from Elgin High School Class of 1956, he started a carpenter apprenticeship with Keagan Brothers of South Elgin and became a Master Carpenter. Jerry owned and operated Jerry Hulke Builders and built many custom homes in the Elgin area. He retired in 1998 as a superintendent for J.J. Duffy Construction, building Chicago high rises. Jerry played softball, basketball, bowled and was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart & wife of 57 years Leah (Anderson) Hulke. Daughters, Kim (Ted) Buczynski, Kari (Sam) Franklin, Kelly (Dave) Zabran and Kristi (Andy) Heath; grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, T.J., Jenna, Jacob, and Jaryd; great grandson Cameron. Sisters, Betty Lou (Gilbert) Radtke and Jeanette Hegner; brother in law Jim (Debbie) Anderson. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and golfing buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Duane (Phyllis) Hulke, mother and father in law Mabel & George Anderson, brother in law Frank Hegner, step mother in law Laverne Anderson.
