WATERVLIET Gary E. Gingeresky, 69, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, with his loving family by his side, at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. Born in Troy on November 1, 1949, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Eleanor Walsh Gingeresky. Gary was raised in South Troy and graduated from St. Joseph's Grammar School and Catholic Central High School class of 1964. In 1968, he graduated cum laude from Siena College as a history major. He received his master's degree in criminal justice in 1975 from UAlbany. Gary was employed by the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services from 1970-74. From 1975-81, he worked for the Capital District Regional Planning Commission (CDRPC). In 1981, Gary began his career with the New York State Department of Criminal Justice with the Division for Youth as executive assistant to the commissioner where he worked for 37 years before retiring in July 2004. Gary was on his CCHS Reunion Committee and the South Troy Reunion Committee. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers. He is the beloved husband of 47 years of Anne E. Hayes Gingeresky; devoted father of Tara (John) Murphy of Charlotte, Nicholas (Laura) Gingeresky of Watervliet and the late Gregory Gingeresky; proud grandfather of Stephen and Michael Gingeresky, Trey, Rory and Liam Murphy, Sydney and Emily Gingeresky; brother of Brian (Joan) Gingeresky of Troy; brother-in-law of James (Jane) Hayes of Watervliet, Colleen (Doug) Wilkie of Troy and Donna (Jerry) Doyle of Latham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
